"Mr and Mrs Spoon" — a family running a family café.

We opened Spoon in September 2011 as a local licensed family café bistro, finally realising Jules' life-long ambition of having his own place. It started out as an idea, which we've built on every day since.

Jules is the face (and voice!) that many have now become familiar with — working front of house ensuring you are looked after, whilst also doubling up as one of your chefs to make sure your food is created to your personal order. With over 30 years in restaurants and bars — from kitchen help and barman to chef and restaurant management — his enthusiasm for high quality food and outstanding service at affordable prices will be evident when you visit.

Taking a more behind-the-scenes role, Jo used her management background to establish the business and get us to opening day. Whilst continuing her job as a manager within the NHS, she supports the business side of Spoon by focusing on what many describe as the "boring but essential bits". You may also see her occasionally "quality controlling the food"…

We are proud that everything on our menu is homemade on the premises — including cakes, jams, marmalades and ketchup. All our menus are 'adaptable' — as long as we have the ingredients, we're happy to make any adaptations to ensure our customers are happy.
